Batch Tracking for Kirana – Explained
Last updated:
Batch tracking means recording which batch each item came from. Useful for expiry and recalls.
When You Need It
- Medicines – Mandatory. Batch + expiry on invoice.
- Perishables – Milk, some snacks. Track by date/batch.
- FMCG – Optional. Helps with expiry and recall.
How It Works
- Supplier gives batch no. (e.g. B12345) and expiry
- You record when stock in: item, qty, batch, expiry
- When selling: use FEFO – First Expiry, First Out
- Recall: Identify affected batch, isolate stock
